Snyder Manufacturing Inc., a leading company in the manufacturing industry, is seeking a Research & Development Chemist/Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of polymer chemistry, particularly with PVC resins and additives. EEO M/F/V/H

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Formulate new flexible PVC compounds tailored for specific applications (tent, awning, military construction, safety).
• Identify and evaluate new raw materials, including additives, plasticizers, stabilizers, colorants, and flame retardants for improved product performance.
• Conduct research to improve material properties like flexibility, durability, and resistance to environmental factors.
• Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality materials for formulations.
• Conduct trials and experiments to optimize formulations for cost-effectiveness and performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues related to compound performance.
• Develop new processing techniques for PVC formulations.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in PVC formulation, testing, and product development.
• Knowledge of compounding equipment and processing techniques (extrusion, lamination).
• Analytical skills with experience using lab equipment; problem solving abilities in relation to material failures or formulation challenges.
• Familiarity with product development cycles and manufacturing processes; strong project management and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Experience with material testing and regulatory requirements for PVC (REACH, RoHS, etc.).

This position will oversee the operation of American Liba Weft insertion machines and Sulzer Ruti Looms. The ideal candidate will have production supervisory experience, strong problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of weft insertion knitting machines. Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Supervise and manage a team of six operators with varying levels of experience, providing training and mentoring to improve skills and maintain high production standards.
• Oversee daily operations of the knitting department, ensuring efficient production and quality control.
• Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer orders and internal goals.
• Manage inventory, including ordering parts and supplies necessary for production.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless workflow and meet production deadlines.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on the production floor, leveraging strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Utilize computer systems, including MS Office, to manage production data, schedules, reporting, and communicate with other departments.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with American Liba Weft insertion machines and Sulzer Ruti Looms is highly desirable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in computer systems, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work across different shifts may be required to support 24/5 operations.
